MATCU-60 'GAF' emblemMarine Air Traffic Control Unit - 60

MATCU-60 was a Marine Corps Air Traffic Control Unit of the 1st Marine Air Wing based at Marine Corps Air Station, Iwakuni, Japan.

The period 1969 through 1971 is especially memorable to a group of Former Marines that served together in this unit. Our motto was "We came, we laughed, we gaf'd." "GAF" was a term that meant "give a f***"

As a matter of fact, the primary jet initial approach fix was named "Gaff Fix", which always meant "give a flying f***", at least in our hearts.

We have stayed in touch with each other for more than 40 years, bound by the camaraderie and spirit of Semper Fidelis, something that all Marines and former Marines share. We get together each year and rehash old and new stories and enjoy the company of each other and fine spirits.
